Disney Day Drinkers Club (D3): Inside the Fun

If you’ve ever wandered through the parks at Walt Disney World with a drink in hand while savoring that sweet, sweet Disney magic, you’re not alone. There is an entire community of Disney Adults who’ve turned the experience of Drinking Around the World into an absolute art form, and they call themselves the Disney Day Drinkers Club (D3).

Let’s dive into what makes this group so special and why you might want to grab a drink and join in on the fun.

What is the Disney Day Drinkers Club (D3)?

The Disney Day Drinkers Club (D3) is exactly what it sounds like—a collection of Disney fans who enjoy a good drink or two while exploring the parks at Walt Disney World (definitely our kind of people!).

The club was founded by a group of like-minded friends who wanted to combine their love for Disney with their appreciation for a well-crafted cocktail and although they started small, it quickly grew into a full-fledged club with a loyal following and a mascot (Binny the Trashcan – more on him below).

The group has grown so much, in fact, that they do all SORTS of cool things – like schedule group travel, host a huge variety of events in and around Walt Disney World, plus even have their own branded craft beer!

How to join the Disney Day Drinking Club

There is no formal application to join. You aren’t vetted, you won’t need recommendations or a resume or even pay a membership fee (unless you want to get additional perks); if you love Disney and you enjoy a good drink, you’re already one of them.

The club vibe is all about camaraderie, with members ranging from Disney first-timers to park veterans who know all the best spots to grab a cocktail, and members are all ages, from all backgrounds, and come to Walt Disney World from around the world.

All in all, we’ve found it to be a welcoming community where everyone’s there to have a good time, share their tips, and make new Disney friends.

And – how much you actually participate in the group is totally up to you. In fact, Arya and I don’t typically participate in the online discussions or even in-park meetups, but we still absolutely love following along on all of the social media accounts to see what adventures other D3 members are having.

Not only is it a fun way to get a taste of the parks when you’re sitting at home, it’s also a great way to see how other people attack park touring and bar hopping at Walt Disney World.

Membership

While joining the Disney Day Drinkers Club is free, they do offer a few membership options that will get you a few perks PLUS allow you to support the people behind putting the group together (something which we’re sure takes a lot of time and effort and money to do!).

The perks of a Disney Day Drinkers Club Glassholder Membership include merchandise discounts, entry or a discount to 1 of their special events a year (depends on your level of membership), plus things like access to mixology classes and more.

Again, you aren’t required to pay for one of those memberships but it is definitely an option – especially if you’re looking to support the people doing all the work to make the group happen.

Special Disney Day Drinkers Club Experiences

In addition to the extremely active online community, there are other fun additions that make the D3 club unique:

Special Events

We’ve already alluded to them up above, but there are TONS of in-person events held every year throughout Walt Disney World. There are events for things like the Annual D3 Mom’s Day Out, to ones around Oktoberfest, to bar and monorail crawls, to even events around Pin Trading and even a special event just for Pride.

No matter what you’re interested in, if you would like the opportunity to meet up with other Disney Day Drinkers in person, there are always a ton of events on the calendar.

Binny the Trashcan Mascot

Every club needs a good mascot, and for D3 that mascot is Binny the always trashed trashcan. But he isn’t just ANY trashcan – he’s the trashcan located just outside of the iconic Rose & Crown Pub (one of our favorite bars in EPCOT). If he isn’t stationed right outside the door you can find him (or his body double) across the street.

It is tradition for D3 members to take pictures of themselves (with drink in hand, of course) while standing with Binny and the spot is a popular location for meet-ups and crawls to start.

Binny’s Brew

A recent addition (May of 2024) is Binny’s Brew, which is a Florida Ale named after the official D3 mascot Binny. You can get it at Total Wine locations in Florida, plus at several non-Disney owned restaurants on property (like Yak & Yeti and City Works).

Challenge Coins

From what we understand, Challenge Coins are big in the military but they are also a thing with the Disney Day Drinkers Club, too. To get a Challenge Coin in D3, you’ll need to purchase one from their merchandise shop.

In full disclosure – we’ve never participated in them, but here’s how we understand that they work:

You start by pulling out your coin, holding it up, and calling for a coin check. If you’re not into shouting, you can just place it firmly on a surface where it’s loud enough for everyone to hear. Dropping your coin by accident and making noise? That also counts as starting a coin check.

When challenged, everyone has to show their coin in the same way. If you don’t have yours, you’re buying a round for everyone involved. But if everyone shows their coin, the challenger is the one who has to buy the drinks.

Coin checks can happen anytime, anywhere—no exceptions. You get one step and an arm’s reach to find your coin when challenged. If you can’t reach it, too bad.

How to join in the fun

So, think this group of Disney fans is right up your alley? Good news! Getting involved with the Disney Day Drinkers Club is easy.

Start by following them on social media to stay updated on upcoming events and meetups. Whether you’re a local or just visiting for a few days, there’s bound to be something happening that you can jump into. And, make sure you take the time to visit their website, too.

If you’re planning a trip to Disney, check out the club’s schedule to see if any meetups align with your visit. And even if you can’t make it to an official event, you can still connect with other members online and share your own Disney drinking experiences.

Just like when joining any group, we recommend you read the group rules carefully and be respectful. This is all supposed to be fun – it is Disney, after all!

Like I said above, we tend to participate in the group from afar, but that doesn’t mean we don’t truly think its a great group of folks. And just by writing this all up we may have talked ourselves into actually joining in a meet up the next time we’re in town. We definitely think it would be a great time!

Tell us what you think

And that’s it! A nice little overview of the Disney Day Drinkers Club. Are you a member? Do you think you’ll join up now that you know more about it? We value your input, even (or especially) when it differs from ours and plus, we know other readers appreciate varying perspectives. So please take a second to drop your thoughts in the comments!
