What’s the Deal with That EPCOT Grapefruit Beer?

Schöfferhofer Pink Grapefruit Hefeweizen epcot drinking around the world

If you’ve ever made your way around the World Showcase with the sun beating down on you, you’ll know that by the time you’re at the back of the park the quest for a refreshing beverage is REAL.

Enter the EPCOT Grapefruit Beer that has become a fan-favorite (including with us!). It’s light, refreshing, and the perfect beer to quench your thirst.

Let’s dig into why Grapefruit Beer is so awesome and where you can get your hands on one:

What is the EPCOT Grapefruit Beer?

Grapefruit Beer, formally known as Schöfferhofer Grapefruit, hails from the beer motherland, aka Germany. (Note: Although many of Disney’s menus list it as “Pink Grapefruit, the official name is just “Schöfferhofer Grapefruit”).

This beer is a unique blend of 50% hefeweizen beer and 50% grapefruit juice, giving it a light, fruity flavor that’s incredibly refreshing. With a low alcohol content of about 2.5%, it’s perfect for those who want to enjoy a drink without getting too tipsy.

Schofferhofer Grapefruit in Germany at Epcot

Type of Item: Draft Beer
Where to Find It: All locations in the Germany Pavilion (Draft)
Average Price: $11.50 for 12 oz
Our Rating:

Description: Fruity but crisp German Hefeweizen infused with natural pink grapefruit flavor.

Why We Love It: Schöfferhofer has a variety of fruit flavored Hefeweizens, but the grapefruit is our favorite because it is perfectly sweet and tart with a healthy amount of grapefruit flavor. You can find this all over Disney World property, including several places in the Germany Pavilion. You can even get cans of it in most Disney Resort Quick Service locations. Prost!

At Walt Disney World, Grapefruit Beer isn’t just a drink; it’s part of the EPCOT experience. Or at least, that’s what we tell ourselves to justify buying one (or three) every trip.

You’d have to drink a bunch to get hammered on it (which is nice when you’re trying to avoid going too far). Plus, it pairs really well with the delicious pretzels you’ll find in the Germany Pavilion, too. It’s just a great all-around option and because it is so refreshing, you can think of it as a little sip of summer, no matter the season.

Where can you find Grapefruit Beer in EPCOT?

If you’re looking for a draft, you can find the Grapefruit Beer primarily in the Germany Pavilion in EPCOT.

That includes at Sommerfest (which is a Quick Service location with Mobile Order), the Bier Cart and the Bier Stand.

If you are venturing out of EPCOT, you can find it by the can at many of the Disney Resorts, and even some restaurants, as well.

How much does the EPCOT Grapefruit Beer cost?

A 12 oz draft of Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen will run you about $11.50.

The cost of a can is a few bucks less. If you are in a spot where both are available, you should definitely get the draft. The cans are fine, but draft is way better, in our opinions.

Other fun tidbits

  • At Tune-In Lounge in Hollywood Studios, you can get a Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen “Loaded” with a shot of Deep Eddy’s Ruby Red Grapefruit Vodka.
  • During the Festivals at EPCOT, you can SOMETIMES find other varieties of Schöfferhofer Hefeweizens available at the Germany festival booth. We’ve tried a Prickly Pear variety (loved it), a Wild Cherry version (tasted like cough syrup?!), and a Pineapple flavor (delicious!).
  • You can buy cans and bottles of Schöfferhofer Hefeweizens across the world – so if you tried it on vacation and fell in love, you’re in luck. They come in the traditional Grapefruit flavor, but you can get variety packs with Juicy Pineapple, Wild Cherry, and Pomegranate, too.
