Violet Sake from EPCOT (with Recipe)

Violet Sake

Some drinks are good. Some drinks are pretty. Violet Sake is both. And if you’ve ever been handed this purple floral cocktail on a hot EPCOT day, you already know why it has a cult following. It’s bright, it’s sweet, and it’s the kind of drink you start recommending to strangers in line after just one sip.

We never skip it. And yes, we’ve ordered it after a Tokyo Sunset because we’re not afraid of a sugar spiral. No regrets.

Here’s where to find it and how to make it at home.

What’s in a Violet Sake?

Despite the name, this drink is not aggressively sake-forward. This one is a mix of dry sake, Monin desert pear syrup, sweetened lime juice, and water, usually served over ice and topped with a lemon slice.

The flavor? Think classy grape Jolly Rancher meets spa water. It’s sweet, fruity, floral, and a little citrusy, but not syrupy enough to feel like punishment in the Florida heat. Pair it with a festival bite or one of our favorite EPCOT snacks and you’ve got the perfect World Showcase break.

If you’re someone who says “I don’t usually like sake,” this drink just might convert you.

Where to Find It

The Violet Sake lives at Garden House, the little sake stand in the Japan Pavilion at EPCOT.

If you’ve walked past the big staircase up to Teppan Edo, you’ve walked right by it. Garden House is the kind of spot that’s easy to miss unless you’re looking for it (it’s not even labeled in My Disney Experience), and the hours are sometimes unpredictable.

What It Tastes Like (and Why It Works)

It’s smooth, it’s floral, and it doesn’t punch you in the face with alcohol. There’s a brightness from the lime juice, a unique flavor from the desert pear, and just enough sake in the mix to remind you it’s not a juice box.

It’s one of the few drinks in World Showcase that consistently delivers, especially in terms of balance. Sweet? Yes. Overwhelming? Not really. This is the drink you get to cool off and take a cute photo with.

How Much Does the Violet Sake at EPCOT Cost?

As of 2025, a Violet Sake will run you $12.50. For EPCOT, that’s solid. It’s not a giant drink, but it doesn’t feel overpriced either, and the quality is consistently good.

It’s one of the better values in the park when it comes to cocktails, and unlike some drinks that show up at festivals or random carts, this one’s always available.

Violet Sake Recipe

Want to recreate the famous EPCOT Violet Sake at home? Good news: it’s surprisingly easy. So easy, in fact, we were able to make them even after “taste testing” 3. We’re true professionals.

A Quick Note on Syrup

The key ingredient is Monin Desert Pear Syrup, which gives the drink its vibrant color and floral-sweet flavor. You can usually find it on Amazon or at restaurant supply stores. Just make sure to refrigerate it or it will turn brown or green if you don’t. (Ask us how we know.)

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker (or a jar with a lid – we won’t judge)
  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Tall glass with ice
  • Lemon slice for garnish (optional, but looks fancy)

Ingredients

  • 2 oz dry sake (any kind will work, but a dry variety balances the sweetness best)
  • 1.5 to 2 oz Monin Desert Pear Syrup
  • ½ oz sweetened lime juice, Rose’s Sweetened Lime Juice is a good option (or sub fresh lime juice for less sweetness)
  • 2 oz cold water
  • Ice
  • Lemon slice (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Fill your shaker halfway with ice.
  2. Add your ingredients: sake, Monin syrup, lime juice, and water.
  3. Shake it like you’re about to justify a $500 Disney bar tab with “but I made memories.”
  4. Strain into your glass filled with ice.
  5. Top with a lemon slice, and pretend you’re wandering World Showcase without a care in the world.

Final Thoughts

If you only order one drink in the Japan Pavilion, make it this one. Violet Sake is more than just a pretty drink, it’s one of the most beloved staples of Drinking Around the World, and for good reason. Planning an adult trip to EPCOT? Our EPCOT for Adults guide has more amazing drinks (and some great escapes from the crowd).

Whether you’re on your first EPCOT visit or your fiftieth, this drink never disappoints. Cheers!
